Meeting: May 27, 2023: Raffle, VFW Presentation, Silent Auction!

Saturday, May 27th, is going to be a really FUN meeting for us.  We will have the BIDS & BRUNCH Silent Auction from 10:30-12:00 when all bidding will halt and winning bidders will be determined.

At 12 noon, we will also be presenting a beautiful patriotic quilt to the VFW in appreciation of their support of our Guild and the use of their facilities.

And then...DRUM ROLL PLEASE…Our Annual Quilt Raffle Drawing will be held.  Who will win our Beautiful Quilt this year??

After the quilt drawing, the winning bidders will pick up their auction items and proceed to our checkout lines.  We will try to check you out as quickly as possible by forming 4 different checkout lines (we are not like Walmart, ha ha).  We will have a CASH ONLY line, a CHECKS ONLY line, a VENMO ONLY line, and a CREDIT/DEBIT CARD ONLY line.   Hopefully this will go smoothly and everyone will be out the door by 12:30ish.

Remember, there will be NO SHOW N TELL, NO BIRTHDAY BASKETS, NO FREE TABLE, NO DOOR PRIZES AND NO MONTHLY PRIZE at this meeting.  We will have the MAY BOMs available for you to pick up but we ask that you not bring your completed APRIL BOMs to this meeting…just save them for next month & turn them in then.

Many of our members are bringing finger foods to help with the brunch and we really appreciate it.  We are expecting a much larger crowd since everyone has been spreading the word about our auction & brunch.  What a great way to let the community know who we are and what we do.

Go ahead and mark your calendar now for these dates in June:
June 2nd – Quilt of Valor presentation 10:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Sanctuary
June 3rd – QOV Sew Day 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Legacy Hall
June 24th – SSQG meeting at VFW when Tabby Champion will be teaching us Basic Machine Maintenance!

Please help us welcome guests & new members on Saturday so that everyone will see how friendly and nice we are and will feel comfortable in our midst.  I hope you are as excited as I am about our Auction & Brunch.

Happy Stitching & See you Saturday!

Our May meeting will be a busy one because we have 3 things going on:
1) Our Annual Quilt Raffle drawing
2) Our presentation of a Patriotic Quilt to the VFW as a thank you for their community service
3) Our SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER specifically for Community Service projects like batting etc for Quilts we donate to different organizations.  We are asking members to collect items for the auction and bring them to the April meeting or they can contact the following folks to drop them off at their homes:
Gail McLain – Ellerslie & Waverly Hall
Syble Bailey – Columbus
Karen Moore – Hamilton, Cataula, Fortson
The items do not have to be sewing related items.  They just need to be items that are auctionable (not junk).  We are not advertising this Silent Auction to the public but are encouraging members to bring their family members and friends to the meeting to bid on the items.  This should also give us a good size audience for the Raffle drawing and the Quilt Presentation at the VFW.
