Minutes of SEWrority Sisters Quilting Guild

Prior to the meeting members visited display tables for the following items: Ticket purchase for raffles, BOM pick up and drop off, QOV block and pillowcase drop off and pick up.

Guild members brought brunch items to celebrate our second anniversary and for Quilt of Valor (QOV) recipients and families to enjoy.

The Quilt of Valor presentations

QOV presentation was opened by Robyn Shreve with prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Robyn reviewed the history and mission of the QOV Foundation.

Brunch was enjoyed by QOV recipients and families and guild members.

SEWrority Sister quilting guild meeting opened.

Gail McLain opened the Quilt guild meeting- she reviewed the origins of the SEWrority Sisters Quilting guild and the progression over the last two years. The guild began with 33 members and now has 68 members and 22 programs have been enjoyed by the members.

The motto of SEWrority Sisters Quilt Guild “We laugh, we sew, and we care.”

Installation of new officers

Gail McLain officiated the installation of new officers.

Linda Brown presented the importance of the committee chairs.

Linda Brown recognized Gail McLain for her leadership over the last 2 years and gave her a bouquet of flowers. Recognizing that the whole quilt is more important than one square.

  • Julie Arsenault – truly scrappy quilt, that truly used quilters math.
  • Becky Hooper – presented a quilt.
  • Lisa Roman – present a fall table runner and mini quilt.
  • Kay Huntsman – QOV quilts x2 that she has pieced and quilted. She has made over 250 quilts for QOV.
  • Gail McLain – fabric Old McDonald Farm book
  • Karen Doyle – double wedding ring quilt
  • Amy – colorful quilt
  • Vicky Galczynski – Pink Floyd quilt, and sage and terra cotta wedding quilt
  • Mary Stevens – sunshine quilt BOM
  • Becky Land – Christmas quilt
  • Sandy Burnett – baby quilts one with flower appliques and another with old fashion children block panels x 2
  • Brenda Bannister –   purple queen quilt, quilted by Juile Arsenault

Door prizes

Brenda Bannister presented the door prize won by Karen Moore won the alpine wonder pattern, quilt panel, and summer material.

  • Peggy basket included a 12×12 storage container, wine, book, and candle won by Kathy Bannister
  • Robin Shreve basket won by Judy Scott
  • Gail McLain basket of kitchen towels, chocolate, fall, and sewing items won by Kim Wiggins
  • Karen Clemmens’s birthday basket was won by QOV visitor, Mrs. Betcher
  • Dosie O’ Quinn peaches and blueberry pound cake with silver stand and fabric was won by QOV visitor Rissa Merritt- this item had the most tickets purchased.

Door Prize

  • Awarded by Karen Moore to Anita Rodger- Halloween fabric.

 Updates by committee chairs

  • Robin Shreve QOV- QOV program a great success.
  • Julie Arsenault- Community service- Needs NICU quilts returned by the October meeting. St. Francis Emory Healthcare reached out to our guild asking for quilts for babies who are stillborn. They were given quilts for this need.
  • Brenda Bannister – membership – 68 members with 3 new members last month and new members to be pinned at the October meeting.
  • Vicky WIP – the third WIP was due at this meeting
  • Karen Moore- announced upcoming programs.

o   October Christmas Ornament ideas, share your ideas with Karen.
o   November last-minute Christmas gift ideas- need presenters- please volunteer & talk with Karen.
o   December 9th– Christmas Party

Linda Brown announced that the Cataula VFW generously waived the rental fee for today.  Meeting adjourned.
