Minutes of SEWrority Sisters Quilting Guild – October 28, 2023

Prior to the meeting members visited display tables for the following items: Ticket purchase for raffles, BOM pick up and drop off, QOV block and pillowcase drop off and pick up.

SEWrority Sister Quilting guild meeting called to order by Linda Brown
Introduction of visitors by Lu Enloe, Welcome Committee Chairperson- five visitors for the meeting and given visitors gift bags.

Pinning of new members by Brenda Bannister, Membership Committee Chairperson:
Dorothy Berlinicke, Janet Thomas, Marth Nestor, Rissa Merritt, and Elizabeth Hulderson

Door Prize drawing and drawing for Attendance Prize by Brenda Bannister, Membership Committee Chairperson
• Door Prize won by Kim Wiggins a Small quilt patterns book.
• Attendance prize of $100 to Sunday’s Best Quilt Shop in Ellerslie won by Julie Aresenault

Presentation of October BOM: Suanne Lawson, BOM Committee Chairperson
• Since January 2023- The guild has completed 116 blocks have been completed, 31 quilt blocks for QOV have been made. Which is almost enough for 3 QOV quilts.

QOV update- Janet Calvert, QOV Committee co-chairperson.
• Our guild presented six QOV quilts to veterans at the September guild meeting. We have two veterans awaiting the date for presentation.

Update by Cathy Poyner, Retreat Committee Chairperson
• April 1-5th Quilt retreat: We will open the retreat to non-guild members January 1st, 2024. A $50 deposit is required at the time of registration.
• Mini- Retreats dates – February 15-17, May 16-18, and September 12-14, 2024

Community Service update- Julie Arsenault, outgoing Community Service chairperson
• We have fifty NICU quilts and sixty crocheted baby hats.
• We are looking into a new community service project, possibly lap quilts for the Veterans in the VA home.

Hospitality update, Sandy Dryman, Hospitality Committee Chairperson
• Christmas party, December 9th @ 12 noon. The guild will provide the meat, members need to bring side dishes and desserts. We will play the sock game and Left-Right-Center game with fat quarters.
• Don’t forget to wear your ugly sweater.

Sneak Peak of coming year and Introduction of Program by Karen Moore, Program Committee Chairperson.

Presentation by six guild members on how to make Christmas ornaments.
• Karen Moore, Kathy Bannister, Anita Rodger, Kim Wiggins, Carla Stickles and Linda Jones.

Monthly raffle drawing by Debbie Sutton, Fundraising Committee Chairperson
• Thirty-six fat quarters, cookbook won by Lisa Roman.

Birthday Basket Drawing by Karen Friberg, Sunshine Committee Chairperson
• Kim O’ Connell’s birthday basket won by Michelle Malecki
• Sandy Dryman’s Birthday basket won by Carla Stickles
• Jenny Ceesay’s birthday basket won by Dorothy Berlinicke

Show and tell.
• Julie Arsenault- Mema star quilt- made by Athena Hart quilted by Julie.
• Julie Arsenault- a “free quilt” made from fall fabric obtained from the guild.
• Emily Morton- Kitchen sink quilt, and potato chip quilt
• Karen Morgan- Christmas three-yard quilt
• Janet Calvert-Three quilts for her sister-in- laws.
• Monica McCalla- Detour quilt, Trip around the world quilt.
• Kay Huntsman – QOV
• Kim O’Connell- Halloween witches wall hanging.
• Lu Enloe- Rose quilt- her first quilt and witches’ bag.
• Carla Stickles- lap quilt.
• Karen Frieberg- quilt as you go pumpkin quilt.
• Karen Moore- scarecrow pumpkin wall hanging.

Membership dues are $35 per year and are due now. You can pay by Zelle to Sewrority sister quilting.
