Minutes of the SEWrority Sisters Quilting Guild – July 5, 2025
Linda Brown, President called the meeting to order at 10:30 A.M.
- Introduced Curt Ellis, FOCUS, Director of Ministry-Introduced himself and explained the different ministries offered by Focus to the community. Guild members were invited to participate in different activities offered.
Gail McLain, Chairwoman of Membership committee, presented and pinned new member, Kristen A.
Lu Enloe, Chairwoman of the Welcome Committee, welcomed visitor, Jackie C. to the guild meeting.
Gail McLain, Chairwoman of Membership committee, conducted the monthly door prize drawing with Syble winning the Missouri Star book.
Julie Aresnault, Guild treasurer, Explained the raffle ticket for the two quilts made by the guild members. The drawing for the quilts will be at the October 4th meeting. First ticket drawn will be for Blue Reflection quilt, the second ticket drawn will be for BOM quilt. Members will receive a prize for selling the winning quilt tickets and selling the most tickets.
Sandy Burnett, Chairwoman of WIP – Announced that the guild has 20 participants in the WIP this year and WIP # 2 is due at the August 2rd meeting.
Suanne Lawson, Chairwoman of BOM Committee- Reported that 11 quilt blocks were turned in for July with a total of 180 for this year. She challenged the guild to completed 200 quilt blocks for this year.
Anita Rodger, Chairwoman of Community Outreach Committee- Announced we will continue to make quilts for Oakview nursing home and children’s quilts will be donated to Project Linus. This month twenty-two quilts were donated to Oakview Nursing home and twenty-two to Project Linus. Numerous quilt kits are available for you to make a quilt for someone in need.
Linda Brown, Guild President – Presented By-Laws and Nominating committee.
- Presented By-law changes to be voted on at August meeting
- Presented nominating committee slate for new officers
- Melissa House, President had to remove her nomination due to relocating.
- Kim Wiggins, Vice-president
- Amber Bannister, Secretary
- Laura Julian, Treasurer
- Took nominations from the floor for guild officers- Brenda Bannister for Vice-President and Gail McLain for President.
Robyn Shreve, Chairwoman of Quilt of Valor Committee – announced that five QOV were presented in July. Thanked the guild for how many QOV blocks were turned in this month for the challenge and awarded pins to those members who met the QOV block challenge.
Cathy Poyner, Chairwoman of the Retreat Committee- Announced that registration is open for October 15-19 Fall Retreat is open for members deadline for registration is September 6th meeting. Reminder of mini-retreat Sept 18-20.
Jill Rains, Chairwoman of Programs Committee- Introduced the Pizza Box Block Swap quilt project to the guild. Each member was able to decorate a pizza box for this project.
Linda Brown, Guild President- The blue rhapsody quilt and the BOM raffle quilt were viewed by all members present. We will have raffle tickets available at the July Meeting. The quilts will be raffled at the October meeting.
Show and Tell- Quilts and sewing projects were presented to the guild and enjoyed by all members.
Debbie Sutton, Chairwoman of Fundraising, drew monthly raffle winner and birthday basket drawings.
Linda Brown, announcements that all suggestion left in box are reviewed by the board each month.
- Bobbin winder- donated for retreats
- Subgroups- Pizza Box Block swaps, Paper piecing classes and BOM.
- Christmas program- will be done earlier for 2026.
- An away bus trip to a quilt show is the works.
