Minutes of the SEWrority Sisters Quilting Guild – July 27, 2024
Linda Brown, President called the meeting to order at 10:30 A.M.
Quilt of Valor Presentation, Robin Shreve, Chairwoman of QOV, seven veterans were honored with QOV quilt and a warm thank you and welcome home hug. Reception held in for family, friends and recipients.
Welcome Committee chair Lu Enloe – welcomed visitors- Vicky Dykes, Barbara Montgomery, Donna Post and Dian Thurman.
Membership, Vicky, pinned new member Barbara Montgomery.
Debbi Sutton, fundraising, monthly door prize drawing winner, Barbara Montgomery.
Vicky Galczynski, acting WIP chairperson, announced #4 WIP is due today. WIP# 1 is due by September meeting. A new WIP chairperson to be selected by September 2024.
Showed the guild members the article about our quilt guild in The Harris County Journal.
Sueann Lawson, BOM Chair, The patterns will have a link on the website for downloading from the authors’ website.
Brenda Bannister, Community Service Chair, announced sixteen quilts mad for Defax and three for house of heroes. The next community sew day will be August 10th for House of Heroes quilts, 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Judy Scott, Retreat committee member, announced the October 28-31st quilt retreat registration forms are available for completion. Our annual Spring Retreat will be May 14-18, 2025. Mini retreat September 12-14 is free for meetings, guest $7 fee per day for meals.
Karen Moore, chairperson for program, introduced Tabby Champion, she presented zippers and their uses. Zipper samples given to each member present.
Debbi Sutton, chairwomen of fundraising, winner is Linda B.- holder for ironing board, sewing notions and notions holder.
