Minutes of SEWrority Quilting Guild

Prior to the meeting, members visited display tables for the following items:  ticket purchase for raffles, free table, t-shirt sales, retreat registration, BOM pick up & drop off, QOV block drop off, and for sale table.

  • Meeting was called to order by President, Gail McLain at approximately 10:45 a.m.
  • New members and guests were recognized. Guest:  Linnea Grosse.  New members were pinned: Debbie Blackwood, Linda Moore, Lee Shattuck, and Suzanne Waite.
  • Door prize drawing was conducted.
  • Tammy Silvers presented the program, “Interrogating Your Quilt”. The presentation was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
  • Several members participated in the Show & Tell time. Many beautiful quilts were presented.
  • Birthday baskets were raffled and the monthly raffle was conducted. Mary Bray won 3 of the birthday baskets AND the monthly raffle!!
  • President, Gail McLain, presented the slate of officers for October 2023-September 2025 term. Floor was opened for nominations and discussion.  Officers will be elected at the August 26th 
  • President, Gail McLain, presented proposed changes to bylaws and advised membership they are available for viewing on website. Changes will be voted on at the August 26th
  • WIP #4 was due today. New number was drawn to be due in September.
  • Updates from the following committees were given:
    • Quilt of Valor
    • Mini-Retreat
    • Annual Retreat
    • Community Service
    • BOM (Block of the Month)
  • President, Gail McLain, discussed the online membership directory and encouraged everyone to sign up and update their profile. She also discussed the new SSQG FaceBook group.  This group is for members only and everyone is encouraged to participate.
  • Upcoming programs were presented:
    • August meeting: Guest speaker, Diane Knott, butterflythreadsquilting.com, lecture with trunk show.
    • September meeting: Installation of new officers, 2nd Anniversary celebration.
    • October meeting: Making Christmas Decorations and Ornaments
    • November meeting: Round robin of last minute gift demonstrations
    • December: Christmas party at VFW on Dec. 9th. NO DEC. MEETING.
  • Meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:42 p.m.
