Minutes of SSQG Meeting 1/3/2026
Meeting was called to order by President Gail McLain who led the group in prayer followed by an inspirational reading. She then pulled for the door prize won by Debra Tomazin and for the “Did you wear your name tag?” prize won by Robyn Shreve.

Debbi Sutton introduced guests:

Sherri Frickel introduced the two new members who will be pinned at the next meeting.
Gail McLain recognized members having December and January birthdays for Sunshine Committee chairwoman Syble Bailey who was ill.
Gail McLain encouraged anyone wanting to order 2026 bright pink t-shirts to do so at the meeting.

Robyn Shreve showed video and spoke of her interview with local news station regarding QOV. Sew Date is Jan 10 with prep dates of Jan 5 & 7. The National QOV is in February and she will be giving more information soon. There are currently 9 veterans
awaiting presentations of quilts. She asked that people bring RW&B squares to help make the 2026 block, ECHOS.

Sandy Burnett gave out WIP forms for 2026. The first WIP to be completed is #5 and is due at the March meeting. She presented cash prizes of $52 each to the WIP participants

Charlene Mehlenbeck & Cathy Poyner discussed the away retreat in May and the first mini retreat in February and took registrations for each. Mini retreat will be Feb. 26-28 with setup on Wednesday.

Karen Moore presented new ideas for fundraising. We will now have a 50/50 raffle each month. Members were encouraged to bring cash to future meetings in order to participate in 50/50 raffle. She then reported there would be 3 quilts raffled this year
sharing that one was a quilt kit that was donated to the guild. She also reported that the fundraising and BOM committees would be working together to create the quilts.

Becky Land presented the BOM for March: Snowchurn. She is asking at ALL blocks be made with white backgrounds to aid in putting together the raffle quilts.

Kim Wiggins gave the Community Outreach report for Anita Rodger who was ill. In 2025, SSQG made and donated 131 quilts for various organizations in our community.
She also shared sew dates: March 26-28, June 25-27, and August 27-29. More information will be forthcoming.

Jill Rains asked for ideas for future programs. She then introduced Linda Hayes who discussed and showed quilts made from inspiration of her travels. Linda also teaches classes at Stitch Therapy in Auburn, AL.

Members had a 15 minute break to visit the BEE tables and have last chance for raffle ticket purchases.

The committee chairwomen conducted a 2 minute “speed dating” activity in which one chairwoman spoke at a table and asked for volunteers to serve.

o Susanna Waite’s basket was won by Lou Brackett

The 50/50 raffle was won by Shannon Hobbs. She won $173.00.

Meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:45 p.m.
