Minutes of the SEWrority Sisters Quilting Guild – August 2, 2025
Linda Brown, President called the meeting to order and opened with prayer at 10:31 A.M.
Gail McLain, Chairwoman of Membership committee, pinned new member Charlotte and announced the guild currently has 91 members.

Lu Enloe, Chairwoman of the Welcome Committee, welcomed visitors Betsy R., Susan T., Charlotte, Cathy T., Christine K., and Dana B., to the guild meeting.
Linda Brown, President, asked each member to cast their ballot for the officers for 2026 through 2028.

• Introduced Guest speaker, Dr. Kathy Carlisle, Executive Director of Focus
o FOCUSed on the community
Jill Rains, Chairwoman of Program and Gail McLain, explained the Pizza Box Challenge and we have 25 participants.
Gail McLain and Melissa House– Announced that our guild has been invited to participate in the Waverly Hall Festival (WAHA), and we will be having our First Quilt Show on Oct 11th.
Categories will be:
- Wearables
- Wall hangings
- Patriotic/ QOV
- Mini quilts
- Pieced quilts
- Mixed media quilts
Linda Brown, President- announced that WIP #2 is due today and drew WIP #5 due October 4th meeting.
Suanne Lawson, Chairwoman of BOM Committee- Reported that 19 quilt blocks were turned in for August with a total of 147 for this year. She challenged the guild to completed 200 quilt blocks for this year.
Kim Wiggins, Committee member of Community Outreach Committee-
• Announced we will have 22 quilts on hand and 26 quilt kits out to members for completion.
• July 7th Anita Rodger, Becky Land, Charlene Melheinbeck, Kothilde Luna, Sueanne Lawson and Michelle Malecki helped girls at the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home make a drawstring bag. This event was enjoyed by members and the girls.
• July 10th Karen Moore and Anita presented 22 handmade quilts to Oak View Nursing home in Waverly Hall.
• July 12th Anita Rodger attended Project Linus meeting and donated 22 beautiful quilts our members made with love and care.
• Planning for a sew day is in the works.
Robyn Shreve, Chairwoman of Quilt of Valor Committee –
• Announced that one QOV quilt was presented in July.
• We have seven QOV recipients who will be presented at the September meeting.
• Thanked the guild for the two hundred thirty-six QOV blocks were turned in the months of July and August. Pins were awarded to the forty members who met the QOV block challenge.
• We Care Vet Care to be held September 12th and our QOV will have a table at the Veteran event.
Karen, Committee member of the Retreat Committee-
• Announced that registration is open for October 15-19 Fall Retreat is open for members deadline for registration is September 6th meeting.
• September mini-retreat date was changed to September 25-27th and the retreat is at capacity with 40 attendees.

- By-law changes approved
- Presented results of election for new officers with term beginning January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2027.

Laura Julian, Treasurer - September meeting will be September 6th.
- Time change for the Annual Quilt raffle and silent auction. Please drop off you items between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Doors will open at 2:00 PM for auction and raffle.
Julie Aresnault, Guild treasurer, Explained the raffle ticket for the two quilts made by the guild members. The drawing for the quilts will be at the October 4th meeting. First ticket drawn will be for Blue Reflection quilt, the second ticket drawn will be for BOM quilt. Members will receive a prize for selling the winning quilt tickets and selling the most tickets.
Show and Tell- Quilts and sewing projects were presented to the guild and enjoyed by all members.
Debbie Sutton, Chairwoman of Fundraising, drew monthly raffle winner and birthday basket drawings.
