Minutes of the Sewrority Sisters Quilting Guild monthly meeting, April 4, 2026

Meeting called to order at 10:30 am.
Opening prayer said.
Challenged members to find an umbrella quilt pattern to make.

Guild sang Happy Birthday to all with April birthdays.
QOV (Janet Calvert)
No quilts presented in March.
3/21/26 Last sew day had 6 attendees, who completed 10 kits.
9 quilts waiting to be presented.
Next presentation will be at Pierce Chapel Church on 04/18/26 at 2pm.
Money Donations are being taken.
Patriotic pin can be earned through the August monthly guild meeting. 10 people have completed the challenge to date. Need more blue squares than any.
WIP (Sandy Burnett)
25 to date have joined the WIP program for 2026.
Explained how the program works for new members.
Next WIP due is #2 and will be due by the May SSQG meeting.
July and September will be the next WIP due dates.
Retreats (Charlene Mehlenbeck)
21 people have signed up to go to the retreat in Covington in May. Jill Rains will bring an ironing board.
39 people have signed up to go to the mini retreat at Cornerstone church in May.
Fundraising (Karen Moore)
Will be putting fundraising quilts together at the next mini retreat.
Looking for 3 longarm volunteers.
WAHA is October 17th, and she has asked for members to bring quilts for display.
Block Of the Month (Becky Land)
Kits available for anyone who would like to make a community quilt with leftover 2025 BOM’s.
Showed the April BOM. Mentioned to pay attention to the directions/details as it is tricky.
31 BOM’s have been turned in so far. Asked members to please contribute to the program.
Community Outreach (Becky Land & Debbi Sutton)
7 people attended the last sew day. Displayed walker and tote bags that were made. Have the pattern for the walker bags on the SSQG webpage.
Jynell Osborne mentioned over 30 bags turned in today.
Next WW Bee class will be on 04/25/26 at the main Columbus Public Library for a Twisted Wreath Class. Anita Rodger will teach.
60 quilts were presented to the community in March: 16 to the Tree House Child Advocacy Center, 18 to Oak View Nursing Home and 26 to Hope Harbor Woman’s Center.
39 quilts on hand.
13 kits on hand (4 quilts with batting & 9 large walker caddy’s).
Appreciates any yardage that members would like to donate to this committee.
Programs (Jill Rains)
Kerri Gonyou Schelp presented the postcard exchange program with the guild in NJ. Showed examples and provided kits for those who would like to participate. Information will also be put on the guilds facebook page.
Raijeim Douglas presented a beginner class on Cutting Basics.

Gail McLain mentioned that there will be no monthly guild meeting in July as it is a holiday.
Linda Brown asked for help locating a white trash bag with multiple quilts that went missing after the last mini retreat.
Jill Rains reminded everyone to get their new pizza boxes if participating in the program.
Tina Christie mentioned there are 2+ spots left on the buses for the Paducha, KY trip. If interested, contact her or Dana Brue.
Charlene Mehlenbeck mentioned that the One Block Wonder class participants will be meeting briefly after the guild meeting today.
Brenda Bannister mentioned that the Game Bee will be meeting after the guild meeting today.
