Minutes of the SEWrority Sisters Quilting Guild – June 29, 2024

Linda Brown, President called the meeting to order at 10:30 A.M.

Welcome Committee chair Lu Enloe – welcomed visitors- Joann M. from California and Jimmie Tefft.

Gail McLain, Membership Chair, announced the guild membership has grown to 82 members. Gail pinned our newest member, Janet.

Gail McLain, door prize drawing winner Rita she won templates from Sundays Best Quit Shop.

Vicky Galczynski, acting WIP chairperson, announced #4 WIP is due to be completed by July. Send Vicky a photo of your finished WIP #4 to get credit if you are unable to make the July meeting. A new  WIP chairperson to be selected by September 2024.

Sueann Lawson, BOM Chair, gave an update that the June and July BOM patterns are available at the meeting. The patterns will have a link on the website for downloading from the authors’ website.

Brenda Bannister, Community Service Chair, announced that our first project of make three quilts for the Waverly Hall police will be presented at the Waverly Town Hall Meeting July 1st at 6 P.M. The next community sew day will be August 10th for House of Heroes quilts, 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.

Robyn Shreve, QOV chairperson, announced that nine veterans have been invited and four confirmed for the QOV presentation at the July 27th meeting. Members please wear red, white, and blue to support the veterans. We will host a reception for the veterans and their family members. The next QOV sew day will be in October. Robyn announced need for three QOV pillowcases to be completed before the presentation.

Cathy Poyner, Retreat committee chairperson, announced the October 28-31st quilt retreat registration forms are available for completion. Our annual Spring Retreat will be May 14-18, 2025. 

Karen Moore, chairperson for program, introduced Emily Taylor, Collage Quilter who presented for one hour about herself and how she became a collage quilter. She has a http://collagequilter.com. She is also on Facebook and has tutorial links on her web site and YouTube. Emily Taylor offered a 20% discount for our guild members for 24 hours after the presentation from her website.

Show and Tell will be limited to one item per person due to high volume of members:

  • Vicky G. – Dragonfly chenille quilt.
  • Cathy P. – Bonnie Turner star pattern quilt.
  • Janet B. – Elsa quilt kit.
  • Janet C. – Vintage hexagon quilt repair and finish by hand.
  • Linda B. – Oops quilt

Debbie Sutton, Fundraising committee chairperson, Announced the winner for the monthly drawing.

Annual Quilt raffle, announced by Vicki G. and held on Facebook live.

  • Winner Laura Miller, who bought the ticket from Melissa House.
  • Linda Brown sold the most tickets (804 tickets) she won a $100 gift card to Sunday Best.
  • Melissa House sold the winner ticket and won $100 gift card to Sunday Best.
